Introducing the WOLFFKRAN Internal Climbing Tower Crane – a transformative advancement in crane technology designed to enhance construction capabilities on high-rise projects. This innovative system allows WOLFFKRAN’s slewing tower cranes to “climb” internally, rising in tandem with the superstructure, above the “working deck” during each construction phase. Equipped with a double-acting hydraulic cylinder, the climber ascends by resting on steel collars that bear directly on the newly completed superstructure.
Designed and manufactured in Germany by WOLFFKRAN, the system exemplifies robust engineering tailored to the demands of modern high-rise projects.
The internal climbing system offers significant advantages, particularly in coastal cities and areas prone to severe weather and wind. Unlike external climbing tower cranes, which rest on tower sections outside the building envelope and are exposed to the elements, the internal system provides added safety and resilience by housing the crane within the structure. The climber is capable of supporting ascents up to 45 feet, typical for a tower crane climb. The climbing procedure can take place on off hours (overnight) and be ready for work the next day, saving time. This combination of safety, efficiency, and reliability makes it an indispensable tool for high-rise projects in challenging environments.
